Understanding the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Non-Visa Nationals
This job means you will help students with the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). Here is what you need to know:
- The ETA lets people travel to the UK but does not guarantee entry. Border officers may ask questions on arrival.
- The ETA is for people from countries that do not need a visa before travel. South Korea is one of these countries.
- You don’t need an ETA if you already have a visa, plan to stay more than six months, or have UK residency.
- The ETA is only for short visits or study up to six months. You cannot work or get married in the UK with an ETA.
- The ETA costs £16 and lasts for two years or until your passport expires. The fee is not refunded if you don’t travel.
- To apply, students need their physical passport, a payment method, email access, and photos of their passport and themselves. Children under 18 need a parent or guardian’s details. No travel or accommodation details are needed.
- The UK Government recommends applying via the official UK ETA App on Apple or Google Play stores:
Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/uk-eta/id6444912481
Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.gov.HomeOffice.ho3 - Processing takes 1-3 working days, and students get confirmation by email.
